From St. Mawes a steamboat ferry plies to and from MarketStrand (| m. from station), Falmouth, and takes about half anhour on the journey. The usual times (but these are liable toalteration and local enquiry should be made) from St. Mawes onweek-days are , , , , 2 and 4 FromMay to October an additional crossing is made at OnSundays the boat leaves St. Mawes only once in the morning andonce in the FALMOUTH. Access by rail vid Truro (see p. 238).Bathing.—Two sandy beaches. Boating.—Very popular. The charge for sailing boats (quay punts) isabout 20s. per day. Rowing boats can be hired at moderate rates. Thereare many motor-boats. Bowls.—At the Recreation Ground. Cab Fares.—Motors—3 or less persons, first mile, Is. 6d.; each subsequent£ mile, 3d. Above 3 persons, 3d. per person for whole journey. Waiting 5mins., 4cd. Midnight to 6 the fares are increased by one-half. Lightluggage outside, 2d. Heavy trunks, bicycles and perambulators, Qd.
