Its stems are stout and stiff and the winter color of the young growth is a delightful red. Pioneer produces heavy crops of ber- ries close set in the cluster. They are larger than Rubel; of medium blue color and fine flavor. /^OWr'ORTl The bush is of upright \^\JViK^\JI\U habit and at maturity exceeds six feet in height. The young growth is bright red in winter. The ber- ries are large, frequently reaching three- quarters of an inch in diameter. They us- ually ripen a few days earlier than Rubel and are fine in flavor and appearance. RTTRPT Well developed bushes stand "â yJ*J'-*'-» six feet or more high, vigor- ous and beautiful. The stems are slender, but sturdy. The winter color of the young wood is a rich red. The large berries are of a fine blue color. Planted extensively for commercial fruit production. JERSEY The bush is of vigorous habit and grows very large. The winter color of the young growth is a light red over a golden brown. The ber- ries are the largest of any here listed, of a very light blue color and ripen the same time as Rubel. With simple preparation of the soil they may be grown in most every gar- den and home grounds. They are rap- idly taking the place of many flower- ing shrubs, the foliage and wood growth presenting a beautiful plant.
