The photographs were possibly taken by Isabel Agnes Cowper who took on the role of official museum photographer in 1868 upon the death of her brother, Charles Thurston Thompson, who was the first official photographer of the museum, which was renamed The Victoria and Albert Museum in 1899. The Victoria and Albert Museum (often abbreviated as the V&A) in London is the world's largest museum of applied and decorative arts and design, as well as sculpture, housing a permanent collection of over million objects.
