Amount of Material.—The rattan varies soin length that it is impossible to indicate by thenumber of strips the quantity needed for agiven basket. In estimating the length of spokes, decide ondiameter of bottom and height of sides. Thespokes should be long enough to extend upboth sides and across the bottom, allowing oneach end of spoke not less than three inches fora simple border and more for a more elaboratefinish.
