London, UK. 7th January 2017. Jan Nicholl of Class War swoons on a car bonnet as police try to clear the Brompton Road suing the protest by grass roots trade union United Voices of the World at Harrods which was supported by Class War. The UVW are demanding that 100% of the tips and service charges in Harrods restuarants go to staff rather than swell the profits of the owners, the Qatari royal family. The UVW also want conditions and wages to be improved for waiters who are currently paid at or a few pence per hour above the legal minimum, overworked and poorly managed. The robust but peaceful protest took place outside a Harrods guarded by large numbers of police, with protesters being threatened with charges of aggravated trespass if they entered the store. There were two arrests for trivial offences. Peter Marshall/Alamy Live News
