NORTH CYPRUS. NICOSIA COURTYARD OF BUYUK HAN
Buyuk Han, or the Great Inn, is considered one of the finest buildings in Cyprus. Located in Nicosia, North Cyprus, it was built by the Ottomans in 1572, the year after they had seized Cyprus from the Venetians. The picture shows the courtyard with a small mosque on the right used for pre-prayer ablutions. In the 1990s it was restored and the inn is now a thriving arts centre
