Original Victorian Carte de Visite (visiting card or CDV) studio portrait of Victorian military man wearing a British Army Home service helmet. Unknown British Regiment , Circa 1870's.


Dated to circa 1860's /early 1870's from the square mount. The Pickelhaube influenced the design of the British army Home Service helmet, as well as the custodian helmet still worn by police in England and Wales. The Home Service Battalions were a force of the British Army, intended for home defence and other duties.
