They are two innumber—a flourishing Middle School in the cantonment(the town that has grown up adjoining the old city, aconsequence of the long British occupation), and anembarrassingly successful High School in the city 450 pupils of the cantonment School are assembledin the open space in front of the building when wearrive. A cordial welcome is given, and with briefScripture reading and prayer the school is opened forthe day. A short address from the visitor, and classafter class in perfect order proceeds to its proper we visit them in due succession, and see theboys at work. Eight good work it is, and carried onunder an Indian head-master and a goodly staff whoknow their business. Buildings are defective, and someof the classes meet in what can only by a stretch ofcourtesy be termed class-rooms ; but the site is entirelygood, and when the building schem
