The radar stations with pylon-antennas of the "Chain Home" network, spread out, beginning in 1939-40, along the southeast and east coasts of England, contributed to  victory in the Battle of Britain by ensuring the British fighter planes with sufficient warning for taking off and intercepting German aviation formations.
