'The Family of Man' is part of 'Nine Figures on a Hill', a work of 1970. The figures are Ancestor I, Ancestor II and Parent I. The bronze sculpture was installed at Snape in 1976. It is the property of the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge and is on permanent loan as a memorial to Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears at the request of the Hepworth Estate.
