A BARE FOOT SINEAD O'CONNOR HEADLINING THE CAMBRIDGE FOLK FESTIVAL ON FRIDAY NIGHT AUGUST 1ST 2014. Thousands of music fans of all ages have descended on Cambridge for the 50th anniversary of one of the world's most famous folk festivals. The sold-out Cambridge Folk Festival has been held every year since 1965 and attracts more than ten thousand people. This year's eclectic mix of music includes headliners Sinead O'Connor and Van Morrison, as well as blues, jazz and gospel groups. The four-day event takes place in the grounds of Cherry Hinton Hall on the outskirts of the historic city of Cambridge and also features music workshops. The first Cambridge Folk Festival, which is run by Cambridge City Council, sold 1,400 tickets and featured a young Paul Simon. It now has two stages and a club tent and members of the audience often perform later at the campsite. Past artists include The Pogues, The Saw Doctors, Billy Bragg, Joan Baez, The Levellers, Beth Orton, Lang, Rumer, K T Tunstall and The Waterboys. Mumford & Sons, Joan Armatrading, Jools Holland, The Proclaimers and Billy Connolly have also played at the world renowned festival.
