Clonorchiasis life cycle. Diagram showing the life cycle of the Chinese liver fluke (Clonorchiasis sinensis), a parasitic flatworm and the cause of clonorchiasis. The worm has two intermediate hosts, water snails and freshwater fish. It infects humans when they consume raw or undercooked fish. The adult worms live in the bile ducts and only causes symptoms in heavy infections.
