Fiona Brothers and Richard Noble, 1980s. Pictured with the car Thrust 2. Fiona Brothers set the women's propeller boat speed record of mph in September 1981. Richard Noble was the holder of the world land speed record (WLSR) in 1983 with the car Thrust 2, with a speed of mph. In 1997, the result of Noble's next project, Thrust SSC, was driven by RAF pilot Andy Green to set a new record of mph, breaking the sound barrier in the process.
