The Golconda Fort in Hyderabad Telangana was the capital of the medieval kingdom of the Qutb Shahi Dynasty. The fort and citadel was built on a round hill and that is how it got its name. Golconda is also famous for its diamonds, are world famous ones like the Koh I Noor were mined here.
