We girls (teachers included)were in such a state of excitement! The day finally came, and on arriving at thestadivim I saw that many of the school-children worethe Belgian colors. The girls who were not in the pageant marchedforward singing the Washington Irving MarchingSong, forming the initials W. I. The pageant thenstarted. It was about the history of our city fromthe time it was purchased for twenty-fovir dollarsto the styles of 1919. Each department tried itsbest to make it a success. The commercial department produced a humantypewriter keyboard. A group of girls wore hats onwhich were painted the letters, marks of punctua-tion, and figures of the universal keyboard.
