Grouse. Gamekeeper Jimmy Shuttlewood and shoot organiser James Chapel on the North York Moors Snilesworth Estate with English Springer Spaniels.

Grouse. Two days before the "Glorious Twelfth" the first day of the UK shooting season (Aug 12th) shoot organiser James Chapel, left and Jimmy Shuttlewood, head gamekeeper of the Snilesworth Estate with his dogs, walk up on the North Yorkshire Moors where the grouse are plentiful. Grouse numbers are sensitive to the good management of ling heather which carpets the moors in pink at this time of year, and is the grouse's main staple diet along with bilberries. Shuttlewood also likes to be called 'the head moor keeper', as this gives a broader idea of what he actually does.
