Capela Santa Ana, Sousanil, Portugal. Architect: e|348 arquitectura, 2014. Street view with chapel's rear entrance.

The Chapel Santa Ana sits on a small triangular piece of land right on the intersection of 5 roads at the bottom of an ascending hill. The topographic site is the perfect “stage” for celebrating Santa Ana’s festivities, occurring on July 26th every year. The shape of the site allows exterior mass celebration were everyone has optimal visibility conditions and suggested the creation of a L shaped building. The main entrance is oriented towards West with an “ante-chapel” and a space for worship; the nave, with a capacity of about 30 people, holds the altar in the background. The space is all closed, massive ascending walls punctuated with fenestration. The ambience enhances the visitors intention to meditate and contemplate. The building itself, interiors and furniture where designed by "e|348 Arquitectura". The determination of a group of people to build a place for devotion that is able to gather people around it made the project possible.
