A mooring buoy lying on the sands on the approach to Little Eye - one of the island in the Dee Estuary off the Wirral peninsula.

Little Eye is one of three islands in the Dee Estuary about a mile and a half from the Wirral coastline. On a safe transit out to the islands from the mainland Little Eye is the first port of call. The tides moving around the islands can be very rapid. Each year a number of people have to be rescued once they have been cut off by an incoming tide. The only safe route out to Hilbre Island is to follow local directions (available on the mainland), be aware of the tide times and to walk via Little Eye and Middle Hilbre.
