Work being carried out to clean a minaret at the world famous Taj Mahal in Agra India.


The Taj Mahal and its associated minarets periodic renovation and cleaning. To restore the marble of the building to its original bright colours a "mud pack" method is used. A thin layer of clay, made to a formula by scientists from the Archaeological Survey of India, is spread over the surface and left to do its work. When it is removed the marble's ivory-white colour is restored.
