A bronze statue of Duke Kahanamoku sits on top of a sandstone outcrop in a park dedicated to Australian surfing near the village of Harbord on the Australian east coast Duke Kahanamoku from Hawaii populated surf board riding in Australia after he gave demonstrations of his skills at Freshwater beach in 1914 The statue and Park were created in the hope of one day fulfilling the Dukes dream of surfboard riding becoming an Olympic sport
