Tsar Alexander III and Tsarina Maria Fyodorovna of Russia, 1880s. Alexander III (1845-1894) married Maria Feodorovna (1847-1928), formerly known as Dagmar of Denmark, the younger sister of Alexandra, Queen Consort of King Edward VII of the United Kingdom, in 1866. Alexander became Tsar in 1881 after the assassination of his father, Alexander II.
