False Stonefish, or Devil Scorpionfish, Scorpaenopsis diabolus. Tulamben, Bali, Indonesia. Bali Sea, Indian Ocean.
These fish are often mistake for the true stonefish, and, while not as dangerous, they have venomous spines which can inflict a painful sting. They are easy to overlook as they lay camouflaged on the seabed waiting for prey.
