St Dunstan-in-the-East Plaque, London, England.

This image shows a plaque on the remains of the St Dunstan-in-the-East church, London, England. The plaque says: "The church of St Dunstan in the East stood on this site from ancient time." "Sir Christopher Wren rebuilt the church after the Great Fire of 1666 and the only part of his design which survives is the tower." "The remainder of the church was rebuilt in 1817 and destroyed by enemy action in 1941." "The garden was created by the Corporate of London and opened by the Rt. Hon. The Lord Mayor Sir Peter Studd KT,MA,DSc on 21st June 1971." St Dunstan-in-the-East was a Church of England parish church on St Dunstan's Hill, half way between London Bridge and the Tower of London in the City of London. The church was largely destroyed in the Second World War and the ruins are now a public garden. The church was originally built in about 1100. A new south aisle was added in 1391 and the church was repaired in 1631 at a cost of more than £2,400.
