This plant will becompleted and placed in service at a very early date. The saleof these two plants was arranged by W. R. Toppan, vice-presi-dent and general manager of the L. M. Booth Co. W. R. Toppan, who last year was made vice-president andgeneral manager of the L. M. Booth Co., has a remarkable rec-ord as a railroad supply man. Entering the field as mechanicalexpert for the Galena Signal Oil Co., he passed several years. W. R. Toppan. in the employ of this concern. He became general managerof the Kennicott Water Softener Co. in January, 1905, andheld this position until he resigned to accept his presentposition with the L. M. Booth Co. in May, 1908. L. C. Thompson, manager of the railroad department of theAlamo Manufacturing Co., of Hillsdale, Mich., manufacturerof gasoline engines for railroad service, has affiliated himselfwith the Duntley Manufacturing Co., and will have charge ofthe railroad department for this concern. Mr. Thompson willretain his position with the Alamo Manufacturing Co., withheadquarters in the Harvester Bldg., 234 Michigan Blvd., Chi-cago, 111. Prof. Morgan Brooks, of the Department of Electrical En-gineering, University of Illinois, who is absent from the Uni-versity during the present school year on leave, sails from SanFrancisco on October 12 on a trip which ultimately will takehim around the world.
