Naval Academy plebes form a human pyramid around the greased Herndon Monument as they try to climb to the top to retrieve a hat symbolizing the successful completion of the freshman year May 21, 2018 in Annapolis, Maryland. Each year, around 1,000 members of the freshman class race to climb the 21-foot tall obelisk to replace the plebe Dixie cap with a midshipman's hat.
