Stingray tail spike ('sting'). They are very sharp, and jagged and can impart a serious wound plus bacterial infections.
This tail was removed from a dead Stingray washed up on a local beach. I have been injured by a Stingray and was keen to have a close-up look at what pierced my knee many years ago. It took many months for the tail to dry-out and stop smelling foul.
