An accidental injury to one or more of the teeth of eitherset, whether resulting in their loss or not, is often respon-sible for an irregular condition. Should a deciduous toothbecome devitalized, as the result of an accident or othercause, and alveolar abscess supervene, the physiological actof absorption will be suspended, and the succeeding toothin the course of its eruption will naturally be deflected fromits course and erupt in an abnormal position. So, also, it has happened that a deciduous incisor, througha fall, has been driven up into the process. Such a mis-fortune can harcuy fail to cause an injury to the partiallyformed permanent tooth lying beneath it.
