Protesters hold placards saying "Free Paul Watson" during the demonstration. Protesters gathered outside the Notre-Dame de La Garde Basilica in Marseille to support Captain Paul Watson, founder of the environmental organization Sea Shepherd. Captain Paul Watson was arrested in Greenland on July 21 by Danish police at the request of Japan which charges him with complicity in assault and trespassing on a vessel, which could see him face up to 15 years in prison. Japanese authorities have requested his extradition.
