Lung adenopathy. Coloured frontal chest X-ray of the lungs of a patient with adenopathy of the trachea and bronchi. Adenopathy is a general term for diseases affecting glandular tissue, such as the lymph glands. In this case, the sides of the trachea (airway, upper centre) and the insides of the bronchi leading into the lungs (left and right of centre) are affected (opaque white patches). Enlargement of the lymph nodes may have been caused by sarcoidosis, which causes small clusters of granulomas to form, usually in the lungs. Treatment is by corticosteroids to reduce inflammation.
