The personnel of this convention was a high standard ofmanhood. In fact these are few, if any higher callings thanthe profession of teaching; and those who are engaged in it,if qualified to properly discharge its duties, represent the mostcultured class of the countrys citizenship. They are theguides who awaken intellects, latent powers of mind, anddirect them toward the pure light of knowledge, and only turnto do battle against the hosts of ignorance and indifference.
