On the morning of Tabaski, men, women, and children alike converge on the great mosque of Djibo in northern Burkina Faso for a special Tabaski prayer. This part of the country is primarily Muslim, inhabited mainly by the Fulani and Touareg, both traditionally pastoralist ethnic groups, crisscrossing the Sahel and Sahara with their cattle and other livestock, in search of green pastures and fresh water.
