Cutters pessary(Fig. 47).—This hasa crescentic bar, acup, or a loop (Fig. 48) mounted on a stem having a perineal curve; fromthis a piece of indiarubber tubing passes back between thenates, and is connected with a strap which buckles on toa waist belt, The bar or loop should go into the posteriorvaginal fornix. Itthus raises the uterushigher than the cupand stem does. Theobjections to it are, thatit is more difficult forthe patient herself toadjust, for the top ofthe instrument tendsto get in front of theuterus ; and that theindiarubber band goingbetween the nates £etsdirty.
