A Northwest Iranian decorated shield, 1st half of the 1st millennium A conical shield made from a single piece of sheet bronze, with a heavy, fusion-welded, conical umbo. Concentric decorative circles of embossed and chiselled triangles, rings, points, elongated bumps, and serpentine lines. Four pairs of holes. Diameter cm. Weight 562 g. Preserved as fragments with a beautiful green to blue-green patina. The shield belongs to a known group of lavishly and masterfully crafted decorative shields.
