It produces a great numberof shoots, growing 12 feet high, thicklycovered with leaves, and yielding such anabundance of forage that one plant isconsidered amply sufiicient to feed a pairof cattle for 24 hours. As a soiling or fod-der plant in the South, it surpasses eithercorn or sorghum, and in the extremeSouth is a perennial. It is free from crookedbrush, stands up well and grows from 8 to 10 feet high. Itripens early and is fine and straight.
