The church was dedicated in the spring of1859, costing $5,000. Rev. Peixotto was assisted byDr. Mann, who preached the dedicatory sermon. In1915 this building was enlarged and completely reno-vated; an addition of 18x45 was built to the rear anda basement equipped with Sunday-school rooms, asteam heating and electric plant, beautiful stained glass. TheOld Goshenhoppen Church, as it appears today, isone of the finest churches in the upper end of thecounty. The total expenses of re-modeling the churchbuilding amounted to $12,, all of which was pro-vided for by the day of re-dedication. The re-openingservices were held May 7, 1916. Pastor Fetter wasassisted by Dr. Haas, president of the Ministerium ofPennsylvania and of Muhlenberg College, who preach-ed the dedication sermon for the Lutheran congre-gation. Revs. Beck and Reiter preached in the after-noon and Rev. W. Nickel, president of the Confer-ence, in the evening. The present pipe organ was installed in 1880. Itwas built by Charles Durner, of Quakertown, at thecost of $1,800. English services every fourth weekwere introduced with the beginning of the present pas-torate in 1893.
