Out of 120 shells 25 ^0 were malformed which is a rather high proportion (see Hutterer 1990: Tab. 2). Ecology: On Alegranza the current distribution of Cryptella alegranzae is confined to the north-facing slopes of the caldera; fresh shells and carcasses were found under rocks in relict vegetation. Today the range of this species is extremely localized; fin-.
