The Kilburn White Horse in Kilburn North Yorkshire. Cut on brown limestone rather than the white chalk of southern England. The maintenance of the Kilburn White Horse has now become the responsibility of the Forestry Commission after some 160 years of voluntary maintenance. Originally cut by 30 local labourers.
