On examining with a probe thefact that it is pedunculated may be readily demonstrated. It is aclinical fact that a polyp situated at the posterior naris is more firmthan one in the interior of the nasal fossa owing to the normal pre-dominance of fibrous tissue in the former region, a feature which isto some extent true of anterior polyps as a result of irritation towhich the latter are subjected. In a very large proportion of casesthe favorite site of polypi is the margin or free surface of the mid-dle turbinate body. When a sinusitis coexists they are often seenspringing from the lips of the ostium maxillare. They rarely arisefrom the septum although adhesions may take place between a polyp.
