Group shot # at Makaopuhi Crater . Makaopuhi is about three miles from our destination at Nāpau Crater, and if you don't want to go any further, it's a great destination itself. Makaopuhi means eye of the eel. Once, there were two skeins of blue rock that resembled puhi (eels) which gave the crater its name. However, this feature was covered by a later eruption.
