Anti-suffragette misogynistic comic postcard of unatttractive old maid reads "The up to date Suffragette" and "I have had numerous proposals of marriage and I have scorned them all in disdain", postmarked 1911,

As the suffragette movement gained popularity in the early 1900's, the picture postcard industry capitalized on men's unease about women's suffrage by belittling women fighting for the right to vote. Typically the Suffragette is portrayed as an unattractive old maid and here she throws herself into the Suffragette cause to compensate for her obvious lack of marriage proposals.
