The colon and its vascularization. The large intestine is composed of the caecum, the colon (ascending, transverse, descending and sigmoid colon), the rectum and the anal canal. The colon is irriguated by the superior and inferior mesenteric arteries, derivated from the abdominal aorta, and by their branches.
