Most of the future production gains will be placed on the world export market. MANUFACTURING New factories have been built in about half the countries of Africa in the last decade. The smaller and newer cigarette factories in the coxintries where tobacco manufacturing is young have accounted for most of the recent gains in Africa's total cigarette output. In fact, cigarette output in the three largest manufacturing coiintries --the Republic of South Africa, Algeria, and Egypt-- has remained relatively stable in the last few years. 6.
