St Michael Cornhill, church in the City of London, rebuilt by the parish after the Great Fire of London (1666). Wooden sculpture of a Pelican in her Piety, carved by Joseph Glazely in 1775. The bird has plucked her own breast to produce drops of blood to feed her young, symbolizing Christ’s Sacrament of his Body and Blood to save the world.
