Anxiously we awaited the reply ofthe Council. It was on our hearts night and day, and, truly, we seemedto be brought a little nearer to God than ever before. Could it be pos-sible that the piece of property which the Rio workers for the pastten years had so longed for was at last to be secured for our Lordsservice, and his work here have an opportunity to move forward? Wewaited, and at last the news came: Final decision; dont 352 WOMAN-S MISSIONARY COUNCIL. Words cant express our disappointment. All that we could do wasto continue our work with the best and brightest spirit possible; butto see this property sold to others when it seemed such a fitting placefor our Lords work seemed more than we could bear. However, know-ing that the Board had heavy responsibilities, and realizing that whatcant be helped must be borne, we lifted our hearts to him whom weare trying to serve, closed our minds to our disappointment, and con-tinued our work, believing that at some not far distant day the silverbell will ring forth the glad tidings: Alls well for the Rio school!How long will it be? With regard to finances, I wish I could report a balance on hand,but am grieved to face the fact that a deficit must be reported.
