Each sideof this door were French windows, very large,opening from the floor nearly to the ceiling. Plainboard ceiling was used instead of plaster forwalls, most of the woodwork plain and unpainted,though the lower stairs had newell posts and rails ^^m^^^^^s^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^M^^^s^^^s^si^^^.
