The engine room telegraph of the decommissioned lighthouse tender the Lilac is seen in Brooklyn in New York on Saturday, July 24, 2010. The 800 ton tender was built in 1933 for the Lighthouse Service, which became part of the Coast Guard in 1939. The ship was decommissioned in 1972 and was used as a training vessel until 1988 when it was to be scrapped. The ship was discovered by the Pegasus Foundation and towed to New York which has been restoring it over several years. (© Frances M. Roberts)
