York House is a 17th century building in Twickenham, Middlesex. Its sits by the Thames, a short walk from Marble Hill Park. It is now part of the council buildings for the London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames. Within the extensive grounds is a pool surrounded by statues of nymphs. They were purchased by Sir Ratan Tata for an estimated £600 in 1909 originally from the Italian studio of Orazio Andreoni. They were restored by the York House Society at a far higher cost in 1988. They remain a major attraction within the borough. They are often referred to as Ratan Tata's folly.
