John of Lancaster, 1st Duke of Bedford, (1389 – 1435), was a 15th century English nobleman, magnate, soldier, and statesman, the third surviving son of King Henry IV of England, and brother to King Henry V. He was one of the leading English commanders during the Hundred Years' War, and acted as regent of France for his nephew, King Henry VI of England, who by the Treaty of Troyes (1420) also reigned as disputed King Henry II of France.
