Pills and capsules. Assortment of pills and time- release drug capsules (red and red & white) in a glass cylinder. Taken orally, pills and drug capsules are an effective way of taking drugs which are not destroyed by the digestive system. When taken, the time release drug capsules will gradually release their contents over a period of time. Some of the pills (yellow, at upper centre, and white, at lower centre) have been scored in order to make it easier to take half doses. This is particularly useful when administering drugs to children.
