Each year, the people of Geneva celebrate the victory over the Duke of Savoy in the year of 1602. In that year, on the night of December 11th, the Duke and his army tried to invade the walled city of Geneva but were beaten back by the people of Geneva. The weekend of celebration is known as L'Escalade.
